Pet Health Insurance and Healthcare Plans

We fully support the principle of pet insurance and have an information leaflet on different types of insurance cover. We also have leaflets available in the surgery. Please note we no longer claim directly from insurance companies; however, this can be arranged in very special circumstances.

The practice runs a Healthcare plan for essential preventative care i.e. Vaccinations/Microchip/Worming & Flea treatment. Please ask at reception for details.

Complaints

We hope that you never need to complain but if, however, you feel there is something you wish to complain about please contact Miss Sarah Slade our Practice Manager on 01249 811944.

Ownership of Clinical Records/Xrays and other documents

Clinical records/ Xrays/Scans are the property of the Calne Veterinary Centre. Copies of clinical records can be forwarded on request to another Veterinary Surgeon. Xrays and scans can also be forwarded for examination but will then be returned to ourselves.

Prescriptions

If you wish to order a prescription, please give a minimum of 48hrs notice. You may obtain a written prescription if you wish to purchase your drugs from another Veterinary Surgery or Pharmacy.

A prescription may not be appropriate if your animal needs immediate treatment.

All written prescriptions issued will incur a charge + VAT.

Medicines on prescription will be for a maximum of 3 months (28 days for controlled drugs). This is in line with guidelines issued by the Society of Practicing Veterinary Surgeons.

We can, on request, give you the price of any medication that may be prescribed for your animal.

The policy of the practice is to give a 3 monthly prescription check up on all patients on long term treatment.

Please note it is the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons policy that all animals must be examined every 6 months to eligible for prescription drugs.

This can vary in individual circumstances. Please contact reception if you have any queries about prescriptions.
