TERMS AND CONDITIONS – CALNE VETERINARY CENTRE

These are Calne Veterinary Centre’s terms and conditions. If you require any further information, please contact our reception on 01249 811944.

Fees

All treatment costs are due for payment at the time of consultation. All fees are subject to the current rate of VAT. We are happy to give you an estimate of the probable cost of treatment. Please be aware that this is only an approximate cost.

Payment Methods

  • Credit/Debit Card – We accept all major credit cards
  • Bank Transfer – Please ask for our bank details to set up the payment
  • PetsApp

Terms of business

As stated above all payments are due at time of consultation.

Interest on debts not paid to term will be charged on the full amount at a rate of 5% above Bank Base Rate from the date the debt was incurred until payment is received.

Any outstanding amounts will be forwarded to our debt collection company and charges incurred will be added to the account.

Any credit card payments not honoured will be subject to bank and administration charges.

Pet Health Insurance and Healthcare Plans

We fully support the principle of pet insurance and have an information leaflet on different types of insurance cover. We also have leaflets available in the surgery. Please note we no longer claim directly from insurance companies.

The practice runs a Healthcare plan for essential preventative care i.e., Vaccinations/Microchip/Worming & Flea treatment. Please ask at reception for details.

Complaints

We hope that you never need to complain but if, however, you feel there is something you wish to complain about please contact Miss Sarah Slade our Practice Manager on 01249 811944.

Ownership of Clinical Records/Xrays and other documents

Clinical records/ Xrays/Scans are the property of the Calne Veterinary Centre.

Copies of clinical records/X-rays can be forwarded on request to another Veterinary Surgeon and Insurance Companies. We can also transfer copies of X-rays to you.

Prescriptions

If you wish to order a prescription, please give a minimum of 72hrs notice. You may obtain a written prescription if you wish to purchase your drugs from another Veterinary Surgery or Pharmacy.

A prescription may not be appropriate if your animal needs immediate treatment.

All written prescriptions issued will incur a charge + VAT

Medicines on prescription will be for a maximum of 6 months (28 days for controlled drugs). This is in line with guidelines issued by the Society of Practicing Veterinary Surgeons.

We can, on request, give you the price of any medication that may be prescribed for your animal.

The policy of the practice is to give a 3 monthly prescription check up on all patients on long term treatment.

Please note it is the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons policy that all animals must be examined every 6 months to eligible for prescription drugs.

This can vary in individual circumstances. Please contact reception if you have any queries about prescriptions.

WHAT TO DO IN AN EMERGENCY

CHANGES TO OUR SMALL ANIMAL EMERGENCY SERVICES

As from 1st April 2023 we will be using an out of hours emergency clinic

They will be taking our emergency calls as follows:

Monday – Saturday 19.00 – 8.30am
Saturdays 12.30pm right through until 8.30am on Monday.

All charges will be made to the Nightingale clinic and they will estimate any charges before you are seen.

 When you call our main number (out of hours) 01249 811944 the answerphone message will give you options and then tell you the number to call

Please listen very carefully to the full message.

Please remember if you ring Irene’s mobile number, sometimes there can be a weak signal, you might need to ring the number more than once to get a connection, this does not mean the mobile is turned off, just in an area with a poor signal.

Reception Opening times are Monday – Friday between 9.00am – 5.00pm for collection of foods/wormers/flea treatments etc – collection appointments must be made.

All consultations are by appointment only

Missed appointments will be charged as a Consultation fee.

MARCH 23 UPDATE – We are now allowing one client into the surgery with their pet for appointments. If possible, we ask you to wear a mask.
